Jungwoo Christine Yoon

Jungwoo Christine Yoon is a Korean-Canadian designer and educator with a rich tapestry of intercultural experiences. She has taught in diverse locations such as NYC, Vancouver, Daegu, and Seoul, accumulating eleven years of experience. Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor at the Media Technology Contents Department of the Catholic University of Korea. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Communication Design from Hongik University in Seoul, an MS in Communication/Packaging Design from Pratt Institute, NYC, and a BFA in Industrial Design from ECUAD, Vancouver.

Her interest lies in building pedagogies and practices around people with disabilities and older adults with physical and psychological restraints and the decolonization of racial intersections through visual elements. Her area of expertise in design is structure-focused beauty and food packaging design. Yoon has participated in over 25 international group exhibitions since 2009, with nine research publications and a Ph.D. dissertation paper that mostly shares the objective of including older adults through improvement in visual design for online food shopping.

She is a Vice President of the Korean Society of Cartoon and Animations (KOSCAS), a commissioner of the Shiheung City Landscape Design Committee, a member of the board of directors of the Bucheon International Animation Festival Organizing Committee (BIAF), and a member of the board of directors of the Korea Society of Basic Design & Art (KSBDA).
